WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING?

At Finchley Cosmetic Clinic Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure used to rejuvenate the skin. It is commonly used to improve the appearance of wrinkles, stretch marks, cellulite and depressed scars including acne scars.

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING USED FOR?

The main reason for having Micro needling include:

  • Acne scars and scars due to other skin conditions.
  • Aged and sun damaged skin.
  • Stretch marks.

HOW DOES MICRONEEDLING WORK?

Microneedling creates tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin stimulating formation of new collagen and elastin. This results in improved skin thickness, texture and firmness, as well as a reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

We can also use Microneedling to improve the penetration and absorption of skincare products (such as potent serums for skin rejuvenation and minoxidil for hair growth) into the deeper layers for a significantly better effect.

HOW IS MICRONEEDLING DONE?

Finchley Cosmetic Clinic offers the following:

  • Derma roller: A typical dermaroller has 192 needles; the roller is rolled repeatedly over the target area. This will lead to over a thousand needle entries, all of which stimulate the production of new collagen fibres. This will increase the skins thickness and will improve the appearance of scarring, wrinkles and damaged skin.
  • Derma stamp/ Dermapen: This is one of the most effective microneedling techniques. It works by stamping the skin with microneedles that are contained in a disposable head. The depth of the needles is controlled by the Derma Stamp Pen. The microneedles pierces deep into the skin, creating micro injuries which stimulate collagen production. In comparison to the Derma Roller, Derma Stamp typically produces superior levels of skin rejuvenation and the procedure is considered less painful.

Who performs the treatments?

At Finchley Cosmetic Clinic we have a highly trained and experienced aesthetic doctor.

IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

Typically, micro needling is well tolerated. We apply a topical local anaesthetic approximately 45 minutes prior to performing the procedure to minimise any discomfort.

WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING?

Skin becomes thicker, tighter and more youthful in its appearance due to the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Micro needling also enables topical treatments to be absorbed more efficiently thereby increasing their effectiveness. Microneedling can also be used to improve the appearance of cellulite. Overall microneedling produces impressive results for the majority of clients. Repeat treatments may be required to achieve optimal results.

WHEN IS MICRONEEDLING TREATMENT NOT SUITABLE?

  • Active infections.
  • Chronic skin disorders.
  • Blood clotting problems.
  • Poor healing.
  • Skin malignancies.
  • Active acne.
  • Eczema.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME?
