Where do we treat wrinkles with Muscle relaxing injections

At Finchley Cosmetic Clinic we recommend three main areas of treatment with Muscle relaxing injections

Frown Lines – Most commonly known as Glabella lines, frown lines develop in-between the eyes and can both age and give an ‘angry’ look to the face. If you frown lots these deep grooves will develop over time, whilst sun damage can also cause frown lines. These lines are often deep vertical grooves that can be successfully treated with muscle relaxing injections.

Forehead wrinkles -Wrinkles on the forehead run in horizontal lines and occur through general expressions over time. Forehead wrinkles generally age the face and can be easily treated with anti ageing injections.

Crow’s Feet wrinkles – Periorbital wrinkles are most commonly known as crows feet and inevitaby form with age and the constant expressions at the eyes. Smoking and sun damage can make these wrinkles deeper and more prevalent.

Further information:

Muscle relaxing injections are Botulinum Toxin Type A injections that work by relaxing the muscles into which it is injected. They start working within a few days and the best effect is seen after approximately 1 week. We offer you a free top up in 2 weeks if required. The effects last for 3 to 4 months.

The preparations available for cosmetic use include Botulinum Toxin Type A, Botoxcosmetics, Bocouture, Dysport and Azzalure. We use muscle relaxing injections for a variety of aesthetic treatments including:

1. Upper face lines: Upper face wrinkles are generally signs of ageing. Contributory factors include sun damage, effects of gravity and muscle contractions during the facial expressions. Treatment of upper face lines is the most popular aesthetic treatment. Muscle relaxing injections are excellent for treating Frown lines,

Forehead lines,

Crow’s feet and

Bunny lines.

These lines are caused by different groups of muscles. At times, treatment for such lines may also require dermal fillers in addition. These injections can also be used for eye brow lift that most of our female clients like.

2. Lower face: Muscle relaxing injections are effective in treatment of chin dimpling, marionette lines and also for jaw slimming and teeth grinding.

Jawline Slimming

Chin Dimpline

Gummy Smile

Drooping Mouth Corners

3. Neck Treatment : These injections are effective for treating age related signs of ageing in the neck (sometimes referred as ” turkey neck”). Muscle relaxing injections are done in platysmal bands and platysma in the neck. When combined with injections in the masseter muscles, the treatment is called as ”Nefertiti Lift”. This treatment is becoming increasingly popular

4. Hyperhidrosis: These neurotoxin injections are very effective in treating hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of the hands, armpits and feet. It works by blocking the secretion of sweat from the sweat glands. The effects are noticed usually within a week and may need repeating every 3 to 4 months.

5. Calf : Being injected into the lower part of the legs in order to achieve a slimmer effect.

Anti – wrinkle injections in the calves thins the muscles and reduces the muscle mass of the calves. This enhances the appearance giving a slender look rather than stout and bulky look. Women who are very active and have strong calf muscles can have injections to the calves to thin these muscles.

How long do the inkections last?

The length of time that the muscle does not move varies from person to person. On average the result lasts between 4-6 months.

 Does the treatment hurt?

We administer a topical numbing cream prior to our injections at The Finchley Clinic. This is of course optional and in general the discomfort is minimal.

After Your Treatment

  1. Try not to touch the injected area for 4 hours after treatment.

Botox Treatment London

Some common questions and answers about our Botox treatment

What is an anti wrinkle injection treatment?
Botulinum Toxin (trademarked term Botox ®) is administered via injection directly into the muscle in order temporarily relax the muscle by blocking nerve impulses. The effect of this is to block the muscles ability to contract, thereby preventing wrinkles from forming . The benefit is smoother, more youthful skin that does not have the deep lines caused through repetitive frowning, smiling or scowling.

Is the treatment safe?
Botulinum Toxin has a long and tested life as a treatment in medicine. It has been used successfully in adults and children for various medical conditions over the last 20 years. As a cosmetic application it has been used for about 15 years as a successful enhancement.

Can everybody have anti wrinkle injections?
Yes it is a treatment that both men and women can enjoy. There are some factors that could prevent you having anti wrinkle injections as a non surgical cosmetic procedure such as children under 18, pregnant and breast feeding women, those with chronic diseases effecting the muscles, those people that have experienced an allergic reaction to Botulinum type A injections and those that have infection at the proposed treatment area.

Does the treatment hurt?
Most people report that the injection is relatively painless with nothing more than a slight scratch from the fine needle. If you require a numbing cream we do provide this at our Finchley Clinic. There is little discomfort after the treatment and most people return to work after their injections have been administered.

How Long Do The Effects Last?
Once the injection has taken effect (2-14 days after the treatment has been administered) The muscle should not contract for at least 3 months. That said everybody has an individual time scale dependant on the location and strength of the muscle movement. Some patients enjoy the effects of Botox for 6 months and we find the average to be about 3-4 months.

Are there any side effects?
It is typical to see a little swelling or redness at the injection site and this is nothing to worry about. Slight bruising is also possible but hardly ever experienced here at the clinic. These minor side effects disappear within a day or two. Occasionally, the treatment may relax nearby muscle groups causing temporary drooping of the eyebrow or eyelids, this is however quite rare and can be addressed by returning immediately to the Clinic for the Dr to re-assess. Some people experience positive side effects such as the alleviation of tension head aches and migraines.

Will my face look like a mask?
We have all seen those people that have a little too much treatment and this seems to reduce expression in their face. Our treatments are designed to smooth dynamic wrinkles in the forehead and around eyes, they do not affect your facial expression. Each patient receives a free consultation and it is here that we understand what effect you are looking to achieve.

What After Care Advice Should I Follow?
After you have received your treatment try to move the muscle area as much as possible. Avoid touching the skin at the site directly and do not apply makeup. Do not have facials or massage at all and avoid alcohol and exercise for 2 days. Applying Arnica is fine for slight bruising and paracetamol can be taken if any discomfort is felt.
